Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden
| Professor Carey is one of the most distinguished mathematicians in Australia and has been holding the prestigious position of director of the Mathematical Sciences Institute at Canberra National University since 2002. He is a leading expert in Mathematical Physics. His results on operator algebras, index theory and quantum field theory have helped to shape the field of Noncommutative Geometry. This is a new field of Mathematics that aims to analyse the structure of exotic geometries such as the structure of space or of space-time at quantum level. In Germany Carey will continue his work on invariants constructed from equilibrium states and weights as well as on index theory and twisted K-theory. |
